In September 2011 CLT Scotland and the University of Strathclyde together became the first provider to be authorised by the Law Society of Scotland to offer Trainee Continuing Professional Development (TCPD). Our TCPD programme has since become the largest with over 250 events running annually across the country and online.



TCPD

THE REQUIREMENTS
  • 60 hours of TCPD require to be undertaken by the trainee over the course of their two year traineeship
  • 40 hours must be from an 'authorised provider'
  • 30 hours must be undertaken by month 15 of the traineeship
  • 4 hours must consist of Ethics from an 'authorised provider’ and be undertaken between months 9 and 15 of the traineeship

BECOMING A TCPD CLIENT
Trainees can join our TCPD programme at any point for only £1200 + VAT and be guaranteed access to their entire 60 hours of TCPD. This includes access to professional skills days which include the mandatory ethics element in addition to other training designed to meet PEAT 2 outcomes.

PROFESSIONAL CONSULTANCY

In order to ensure employers and trainees utilise the programme in the best way possible, selecting courses over the course of two years which will develop competent and highly skilled trainees, we are delighted to offer FREE CONSULTANCY to trainees and employers, on TCPD, prior to and throughout the two year traineeship.


TRAINEE MENTORING PROGRAMMES

CLT Scotland offers a range of courses that are designed to provide effective mentoring skills for those responsible for trainees. Tailored to meet your specific needs, training can be delivered at your premises in half-day or full-day workshops.

Topics could include:
  • The key elements of PEAT for mentors
  • Appraising performance
  • Gathering evidence of performance
  • Using PEAT 2 outcomes to plan and assign work
  • Guiding a trainee through reflective practice
  • Choosing appropriate learning interventions
